Guess what? You’ve been daydreaming about Punta Cana. When God rested on the last day, he did it in Punta Cana. All you have to do is take a look at some of the images here on our site and you’ll know we speaketh the truth.

So, the next time you come here to spend some well-deserved quality time at Senses, you’ll definitely want to find some activities to keep you busy. While we can think of a few ways to spend your evenings, there’s one attraction that stands above the rest during the daytime: scuba diving.

Don’t take our word for it, check out what PADI, the world's largest scuba diving certification organization has to say about Punta Cana. “There’s a wonderful array of scuba diving sites...including vibrant, fishy reefs, light beam-filled caverns and a long list of brag-worthy wrecks, both natural and purpose-sunk.”

Before we get into some of the natural attractions available on your scuba diving adventure at Punta Cana, we thought we’d tell you why you need to try scuba diving (if you haven’t already).

Scuba Diving is Pretty Easy
All you really need to scuba dive is the ability to swim and, since you already know how to breathe, that’s pretty much it. Of course if you’re a novice, you’ll need some instruction to learn all the ins and outs but it’s still a very easy activity to learn how to do.

You Get Your Own Personal Sea World
You’ll have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of marine life while exploring the underwater world.

Tranquility Rules
There’s no place that is more peaceful and serene than under the ocean. Once you leave the soft breeze of the tradewinds and the gentle hum of the lapping waves, you’ll be immersed into a world where the quiet is all encompassing. You’ll never experience a more peaceful place in the world, no matter how hard you might try.

You Don’t Have to Surface for Air
One of the most popular activities in Punta Cana is snorkeling. This is a great way to explore the water and undersea attractions. However, there is a limitation. That being, just how long you can hold your breath.
The longest time any human has ever held their breath was just over 11 minutes and that was in a controlled environment (shallow tank) just to break a record. When scuba diving, the average beginner dives for almost a full hour.

Now that you know a little bit about scuba diving, we want you to know some of the beautiful sites you can expect to explore when you decided to dive in Punta Cana. We have quite a bit of underwater attractions in our picturesque section of the Dominican Republic.

La Cueva
La Cueva is a shallow water dive with depths ranging from about 26 to 43 feet. The draw for this area is all the underwater caverns and swim through rock formations. An added bonus are the passive nurse sharks and stingrays that call this area home. This is a great dive for someone just starting and looking for an fulfilling introduction to the sport.

Wreck Monica
The Monica was sunk off the coast of Punta Cana around 1900. The cargo ship originally carried railroad parts for the Dominican sugar cane production during the late 1800’s before it’s eventual demise.

This is a great dive with a lot to see. Although the ship is very much destroyed, there is still quite a bit to explore. The plant life that has grown on this shipwreck is home to a wide variety of fish and other marine life.

Around the wreck are many caves and small canyons to explore as well as a tunnel that runs underneath the wreck.

The Punta Cana Reef
Punta Cana is home to a 24 mile long reef that helps to protect our gorgeous white sand beaches. One of the benefits of this is the abundance of scuba diving attractions to explore both on and around the reef.

Many parts of the reef are shallow enough for snorkelers to enjoy but there’s still much more that you need scuba gear to really appreciate. There is such a large and diverse variety of marine life to explore at the Punta Cana Reef that you would need more than just one day to truly enjoy everything the reef has to offer.
Punta Cana is a tropical island paradise that has so much to offer to adventure seeking visitors and locals alike. The next time you find yourself at Senses Private Club admiring the beautiful clear ocean water, remember there is much more for you to explore.
